Bonnie Kay Bertram, 75, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Bridgeport Nursing Home. She was born March 29, 1948 in Columbus to the late Jess and Leona (Trimmer) Benner.
Bonnie worked as an office manager at several different places and was a member of The First Apostolic Church in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and Texas Hold’em Poker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bertram, a brother, Darrel Benner, two grandchildren, Amber Howard and Catlin Collins, and two step-brothers, Jimmy Benner and Jess Benner Jr.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Tommy Host (Beth) of Columbus, two daughters, Terri Hoskins of Lucasville, and Trudi Miller (Darrin) of Portsmouth, a brother, Bruce Benner (Donna) of West Portsmouth, and two sisters, Diana Kritzwiser of Lucasville and Connie Martin (Charlie) of Indiana. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, B.J. Collins, Jacqueline Host, Jennifer Host, Jayne Host, Jessica Host, Thomas Host Jr., Jalynn Hoskins, Kendall Fletcher, Leroy Craft, and Tiffany Richardson, six great-grandchildren, Haven, Liam, Keke, Tylar, Matthew, and Dominique, and several other friends and family. Bonnie opened her home to many children over the years who she treated as her own.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Tony Knittel officiating. Burial will follow at McKendree Cemetery in Stout. A visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, from 11:00 A.M. until start of service at 1:00 P.M.
