Mark Doll Obituary

Mark William Doll, 68, of Huntington, formerly of Portsmouth, died Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born July 9, 1955 in Portsmouth to the late William E. and Wilma (Fugitt) Doll. Mark was a graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1973, served four years in the United States Air Force, where he worked as security detail and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mark earned both his COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) and a Bachelors degree from Shawnee State University and worked at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland for 26 years. Mark was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved spending time with his family and friends. 

Mark is survived by his wife Nancy (McNeely) Doll, a stepdaughter Shannon Napier-Rowe (Larry II) of Port Saint Lucie, FL, a brother Martin Doll of Portsmouth, a sister Barbara Doll Schwamberger (Ed) of Portsmouth, 2 grandchildren Larry III and Sara, nieces and nephews Paul, Laurie, and Rachel, and a special sister-in-law Patty Wheeler. 

Mark also leaves behind his best buds from Portsmouth, John “JC” Simon, Joe Canter, Tim Dodasky, and Phil Malone. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday April 8, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth with Father Michael Fulton officiating. Graveside military rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth and will proudly be conducted by the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23. 

A visitation for friends and family will be on Monday at the church from 11:00 AM until the hour of the Mass. Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth is handling the arrangements.
