Barbara Rose (Crabtree) McKenzie

Barbara Rose (Crabtree) McKenzie, 77, of Wheelersburg, died, Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at SOMC. She was born March 2, 1946 in Madison, GA to the late, Francis and Sarah (Caldwell) Crabtree. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and worked as the Director of Catholic Social Services.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim McKenzie, who died in 2010.

Barbara is survived by her son, J.D. McKenzie (Crystal) of Wheelersburg, two daughters, Jamie Mastey (Dominic) of Bonduel, WI, and Julie Conrad (Scott) of Stout, a sister, Anice Tovine of Lucasville. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren that she adored, Nicholas Mastey, Jakob Mastey, Ashlie Griesbach (Sam), Elijah Mastey, Drake Conrad, Zane Conrad, Piper McKenzie, and Colt McKenzie, and one great-grandchild, Benjamin Griesbach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Michael Fulton officiating. A burial will follow on the family property in Wheelersburg, on Bennett School House Road, next to her husband. A visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday at the church, one hour before the service. Melcher Hammer Funeral Home is handling the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Barbara to either, SOMC Hospice or to the Notre Dame Schools in Portsmouth.
