Barbara Elaine (Scott) Scott

Barbara Elaine Scott, 58, of Portsmouth, died Monday, April 24, 2023 at SOMC Hospice surrounded by her loved ones.

Our mother Barb did not know a stranger, everyone who knew her loved her. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, and a friend to so many. Barb will be missed by all.

She was born March 6, 1965 in Portsmouth to the late James and Dorothy (Montavon) Scott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annis Horner, three brothers, Jeff, Randy, and Paul Scott. One niece Stacey Robbins and a great nephew L.J.

Barb is survived by her two daughters, Johnda Howell (Eric) of Portsmouth and Stephanie Scott (Diego Quiahua) of Portsmouth, seven grandchildren, Emleigh (Nick), Logan (Carly), Jada, Baileanna, D.J., Xadon, and Ryland, a great-grandson, Oliver, and a special family friend who was like a daughter to Barb, Angel Lore of Portsmouth. She is also survived by her siblings; Kate Swords of West Portsmouth, Mike Scott (Karen) of West Portsmouth, Ronnie Scott (Joyce) of Portsmouth, Tom Scott of Portsmouth, Jean Swords (Jerry) of West Portsmouth, Rue Scott (Ann) of Portsmouth, Richard Scott of Portsmouth, Johnny Scott (Sherry) of Portsmouth, and Dennis Scott (Shelly) of Ironton, Cindy Sue of Mechanicsville, and a sister-in-law, Ruthie Scott of Portsmouth, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Melcher Hammer Funeral in Portsmouth with Pastor David Monroe officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, beginning at 3:00 PM, until the hour of service at 5:00 PM
