Christine Ann (Kohlie) Sand

Christine Ann Sand, 84, of Portsmouth, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at SOMC Hospice surrounded by her four children at her side.  She was born May 5, 1938, in Portsmouth, to the late Fred and Dorothy (Kohlie) Multer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel O. Sand, a son, Scott Sand, and a brother, Richard Multer.

Christine was a 1956 graduate of Portsmouth High School, a Certified Pharmacy Technician, and owner of the Sand Trophy Shop for over 30 years.  She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where she often played the organ, she was also a member of the Mercy Guild.

Christine is survived by a son, Daniel “Butch” Sand, Jr. (Janie), of Rosemount, three daughters; Stephanie Sand, Amy Sand, and Nancy Sand, all of Portsmouth, and a brother, Charles Multer, as well as six grandchildren; Daniel, Kate, Emma, Jason, Heather, Michael Jr. and eight great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Portsmouth with Rev. David Glockner officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday at 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to a local suicide prevention center in honor of Christine.  Donations can be mailed to Shawnee Mental Health Center, 901 Washington Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662
