David Allen Cox

David Allen Cox, 66, of Franklin Furnace, died Saturday, December 17, 2022, enroute to Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.  He was born August 20, 1956, in Portsmouth to the late Martin Cox and Lomma (Howard) Cox.

Dave worked in the Boilermaker’s Union, Local #667, he never met a stranger, enjoyed music, loved God, and to evangelize.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Cox.

Dave is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Moffet) Cox, of Franklin Furnace, four sons; Chad Cox of VA, Shane Cox (Lori) of FL, Thomas Robertson (Jessica) of FL, Charlie Moffet (Kari) of CA, two brothers, Bob Cox (Nancy) of West Portsmouth, and Martin Cox (Lilly) of FL, a sister, Linda White (Lee) of Columbus, as well as five grandchildren; Addie, Anthony, Charlie, Elizabeth, and Hannah.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with David Price officiating.  Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery.  A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
