Deborah Ann (Bowman) Estep

Deborah Ann (Bowman) Estep, 71, of Wheelersburg, died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at home, with her family by her side. 

She was born June 23, 1951 in Portsmouth, to the late John and Betty (Nelson) Bowman. 

She was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended part-time at Ohio University. Debbie was employed several years by Dr. Robert Nelson Dental Office as well as many other medical related practices. 

She married the love of her life, Michael James Estep on May 20, 1972 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and just last year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Debbie was a member of Holy Redeemer where she volunteered for many church related activities over the years as well as her son’s athletic activities. 

In addition to her husband Mike, she is survived by her four sons, Michael Estep (Jennifer), Jason Estep (Leslie), Jonathan Estep (Kim), and Gregory Estep (Mandy), a brother, John Bowman (Anita), three sisters, Cindy Mahle (Eddy), Barbara Keating, Janice Dressler (Joe). Debbie is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Bailee, Cameron, Rilee, Connor, Ava, Tate, Kaden, Carson, Jordan, and Auldyn and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many cousins. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Watikha officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. A visitation for friends and family will be on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth, where a Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 6:30 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to SOMC Hospice or to the Ohio State University James Cancer Center.
