Elmo Maynard Obituary

Elmo Maynard, 78, of Portsmouth, died Sunday March 21, 2021 at SOMC Hospice. She was born January 28, 1943 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Easter (Smith) Williams. She was a homemaker who loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hi Maynard, whom she was married to for 60 years, and her siblings; Nellie Johnson, Leona Scaff, Bill Williams, James Williams, John Williams, and Graham Williams.

Elmo is survived by her son, Leslie “Les” Maynard (Judy) of Wheelersburg, her three daughters; Tonetta “Toni” Wiley of Sciotoville, Teresa Maynard Castle (Scott) of Anderson, South Carolina, and Tammy Maynard Staggs (Lowell Pennywitt) of Portsmouth, a brother, Bobby Williams of Portsmouth, a sister, Lorraine Williams of Edmonton, KY, a sister-in-law, Lois Williams of Huntington, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Robin Larson (Carl), Shawn Conley, Chad Wiley, Emily Brown (Tyler), Megan Castle, and Lexi Castle.

Graveside services will be private at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace on Thursday, March 25, 2021, with Pastor Hector Reffit officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
