Gregory E. Potts, 76, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, June 2, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. He was born November 2, 1947 in Portsmouth, to the late Raymond and Doris (Dobbins) Potts. Greg was a 1965 graduate of Portsmouth High School, an Ohio State University class of 1969, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He worked for the Scioto County Welfare Department, a salesman and sportscaster for WNXT Radio, worked for Richards Electric, and then finally working for Newberry’s Sporting Goods. He loved to play bridge was an avid bowler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Sylvia Coleman and a nephew, Christopher Sainopulos.
Greg is survived by his wife, Nicole Sainopulos Potts, two nephews, Matthew Sainopulos and Jeffery L. Coleman, and many dear friends and extended family that will miss Greg.
A Celebration of Life will be 12:00 P.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor John Gowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. A visitation for friends and family will be on Monday, from 10:00 A.M. until noon at the funeral home.
