Harold Edward “Ed” Adkins, 66, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Portsmouth, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at Ohio State Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1954 in Portsmouth, to the late Herman and Mary (Burton) Adkins.
Ed was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was retired from the Operators Engineers Union and he and his wife were owners of Adkins Computers in Portsmouth.
He is survived by his wife, Debra (Long) Adkins, his step-sons; Ken Eldridge (Missy) of West Portsmouth, Keith Eldridge (Beata) of Portsmouth, and Brian Eldridge of Portsmouth, his sons, Jeremy Adkins of Portsmouth and Anthony Adkins of McDermott, his siblings; Deborah, Karen, Kathy, Linda, Tim, Brian, Jeff, Craig, and Greg, and several nieces and nephews.
Ed is also survived by his grandchildren; Kendra, Ashley, Katricia, Abby, Patrick, Maddy, Jamie, Austin “A.J.”, Ashlee, Ashton, and Aiden.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Gerald Penix officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg where graveside military rites will be provided by the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23.
A visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at noon at the funeral home.
