James Earl Worthington, 52, of West Portsmouth, died Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Ohio State University Ross Heart Center.
He was born June 11, 1971 in Portsmouth to the late Mike Evans and Virginia (Hall) Evans of West Portsmouth.
Jimmy was a 1989 graduate of West Portsmouth High School and worked in the family business, Worthington Signs. He loved his Harley Davidson, shooting guns, and going fishing and camping. Jimmy had a love for cooking and got to fulfill a long-time dream, he owned and operated a food trailer with his family, Triple J T Family Food.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Terry Adams and a twin brother whom died in infancy, Johnny Worthington.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Tonya (Spradlin) Worthington, a son, Jeremiah Adkins (Heather) of Lucasville, a daughter, Jamie Worthington (Tyson Kazee) of West Portsmouth, his mother, Virginia Evans, a brother, Shannon Worthington (Beth) of Cherry Grove, S.C., a sister, Kelly Coppock (David) of Portsmouth, several nieces and nephews, his in-laws, Barb and Steve Spradlin of West Portsmouth, and special friends of the family, Alyson Chambliss, Abby Townsend, and David Buckhalter.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Pastor Denny Dawes officiating. A visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home, and again one hour before the service on Friday.
