Janet C. (Chaffin) Sexton

Janet C. Sexton, 73, of Portsmouth, died Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home. She was born July 24, 1947 in Ashville, OH to the late Jesse and Catherine Chaffin. Janet graduated from Portsmouth West High School and then worked at the Ramada Inn, Hamburger Inn, and the Bus Station all in Portsmouth, and later at the Accra Pac Factory in Elkhart, Indiana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dean Sexton, her brothers, William K. and James Lee Chaffin, and a sister, Mary Ann Phipps.
Janet is survived by her son, David Sexton (Teresa) of Elkhart, IN, a brother, Paul Chaffin of Portsmouth, and a sister, Margaret Chaffin of Portsmouth. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon Sexton (Lashay) and Mason Sexton, two great-grandchildren, Messiah and Major Sexton, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 15, 2021 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Brad Angus officiating. A visitation for friends and family will be on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
