Janis Ellen Collins, 82, of Portsmouth, died, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. She was born February 1, 1942 in Clintwood, VA, to the late Jarvis and Gertrude (Owens) Vanderpool. Janis was a great cook and a huge animal lover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Ray Greene Sr., her second husband, Robert Michael Collins Sr., and her siblings, James Vanderpool Jr., Harold Vanderpool, William Vanderpool, and Margaret Holbrook.
Janis is survived by her three children, daughter Ginger Royster (Nick) of South Shore, KY, two sons, Ronald Greene Jr. (Tina) of Lucasville and Michael David Greene (Bonnie) of Portsmouth, several grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Pastor Donald McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. A visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday for two hours, starting at noon until the time of service.
