Lucinda "Cindy" Parker Obituary

Lucinda L. “Cindy” Parker, 65, of Portsmouth, passed away on August 23, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 21, 1959, in Portsmouth, OH, she was the daughter of Willa Mae (Parker) Ivory and the late Early B. Paige Sr.

Cindy graduated from Portsmouth High School, class of 1977, and retired from SOMC Nutrition Services after over 20 years of dedicated service.

A devoted member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Cindy's contributions were many. As a member of the usher board, she welcomed and guided congregants with grace. Her voice in the choir uplifted spirits during worship, and her behind-the-scenes work in the fellowship hall demonstrated her servant heart. These roles reflected her profound commitment to her faith and her unwavering dedication to serving others.

Family was central to Cindy's life. She was a loving mother to her four children—Michael, Kyan, and Joseph Parker of Portsmouth, OH, and Bradley Parker of Joplin, MO. Her close bond with her mother and her connections with her siblings and extended family highlighted her role as a cornerstone in their lives. Her nurturing presence was a source of strength and support, and her relationships reflected her deep character and commitment.

Cindy is survived by her best friend and mother, Willa Mae Ivory of Portsmouth; her four children; two sisters, Terri D. (Brian) Law of Jacksonville, FL, and Shanice Paige of Cleveland; three brothers, James Mines, Early B. Paige Jr., and Daniel Paige, all of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a special cousin, Raye Denise Parker; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father who reared her, Johnnie Williams Sr., stepfather “Pops” Roger Ivory, and two brothers, Jonathan E. and Randall J. Williams.

Cindy’s legacy of faith, love, and service will be cherished by all who knew her.
