Lydia (Queen) Hurst

Lydia Queen Hurst, 81, of West Portsmouth, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at SOMC Hospice.  She was born May 1, 1943 in Lawrence County Ohio to the late Foster and Edna (Brown) Queen.

She has lived in Scioto Furnace, Wheelersburg, and West Portsmouth.

She has attended Pentecostal churches and Portsmouth Apostolic Church. She attended Bloom Local schools.

Lydia is survived by three daughters. Rosa Blackburn of Minford, Paula Bashaw of Portsmouth, Kimberly Wilburn of Lucasville, one son Romulious Hurst of Wheelersburg.  11 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Paul Hurst, two daughters Shirley Meadows, Phyllis Howell, one son Jason Hurst.  Three grandsons Jerry McKinzie, Michael Bashaw, and Michael Meadows, four brothers, Charles Brown, Roger Queen, Elmer Queen, Johnny Queen and one sister, Joan Neace. 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2025 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home.  John Howard officiating with burial in South Webster Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
