Richard Lee Aldridge, 75, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, August 11, 2022, at his home. He was born December 4, 1946, in Portsmouth to the late Willard Aldridge and Phyllis (Clifford) Aldridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Marilyn S. (Osborne) Aldridge, brother, Charles Aldridge, and sister, Patty Schyler.
Richard was the most selfless and caring person you would ever want to meet, he was a “gentle giant” who enjoyed feeding birds from his porch. He never met a stranger, and he loved riding his Harley and going to flea markets and yard sales.
He is survived by his wife Connie (Fugitt) Aldridge, three daughters; Janie Wolfe (Jerry) of Greenup, KY, Ginger Johnson (Josh) of Cincinnati, Brandy Kristian of Portsmouth, a brother, Larry Aldridge (Patty) of Sciotoville, three sisters; Saundra Moore of Portsmouth, Barbara Crisp of Kentucky, and Jenny Hale of Franklin Furnace, as well as 13 grandchildren; Josh, Jessie, Lexie, Christopher, Rilyn, Mayla, Sammy, Aaron, Brandon, Emily, Brian, Nicole, and Katie, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Nile Township.
