Ronald C. McGraw, 90, of Portsmouth, died, Monday, July 29, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born August 9, 1933 in New Boston, OH, to the late James R. and Alice Loraine (Bramblett) McGraw. Ronald was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force. After his active-duty career, he continued serving his country by serving in the Army Reserves and then the Air Force Reserves. In addition to retiring from the Reserves, he also worked and retired from the United States Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hall McGraw and a daughter, Rhonda Carter.
Ronald is survived by a daughter, Cindy McGraw of Portsmouth, two grandchildren, Kellie Craft of Portsmouth and Joshua Anderson (Catherine) of Piketon, and seven great-grandchildren, Brianna Craft, Brandon Craft (Abby), Braylie Craft, Freyja Anderson, Thorsson Anderson, Cordelia Anderson, and Elzie Anderson, and a brother, Earnest McGraw of Pennsylvania.
Family was the most important thing to Ronald and he always wanted to late sure everyone was taken care of.
A visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Pastor Bernard Tilley officiating services at the cemetery. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where graveside military rites will be provided by the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23.
