Scot Taylor Obituary

Scot D’Andre Taylor, 63, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at SOMC. He was born May 1, 1961 in Portsmouth, to the late Cassius Taylor and Lynda Smart Taylor of Portsmouth.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jason Taylor, paternal grandparents, Cassius and Pauline Taylor, and his maternal grandparents, Roy and Juanita Smart.

 

Scot was a 1979 graduate of P.H.S. and was a member of the State Champion basketball team, he also graduated from Lander University in South Carolina, with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and had worked for P.I.D.C. He was a huge sports fan, loving the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Boston Celtics. He had an amazing memory for sports statistics, both professional and collegiate.

 

Besides his mother, he is survived by his three daughters, Tiffani Taylor of South Carolina, Shaylah Taylor and Scotlyn Taylor, both of Portsmouth, two sisters, Stephanie and Shelda Taylor, both of Portsmouth, his brothers Brandon Tanner and Bryan Taylor of Portsmouth, a brother-in-law, Reggie Greene of Portsmouth, and a close friend and mother to Shaylah, Troi Taylor of Portsmouth.

 

A Memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Ralph Clay officiating. A visitation for friends and relatives will begin one hour before the service.
