Stephen Raymond Hespel

Stephen Raymond Hespel, 68, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, July 28, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. He was born December 28, 1955 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Steve was a handyman, having helped many friends and neighbors with their household needs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eddie Carrier and a sister.

Steve is survived by his companion of over 30 years, Cindy Bush, a son, Stephen R. Hespel II of Michigan, a daughter, Kelli Carrier of Portsmouth, two brothers, Richard Hespel and Hank Marcum, both of Missouri, and a niece and nephew. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna Lee, Alex, Natasha Carrier (Justin Steele), Kirston Carrier (Zak Cunningham), Megan Carrier, and Alyssa Carrier, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Per Steve’s wishes, he will be cremated and have no services. Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth is handling the arrangements.
