William Emerson Sadler

William E. Sadler, 72, of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. He was born July 23, 1952 in Columbus, to the late James and Juanita (Mills) Sadler. Bill was a United States Marine, having served in Vietnam. He retired from Kroger Grocery Stores after 43 years of service. His family meant the world to him. He spent most of his time going to grandchildren’s ball games and activities, and to have extra money during Christmas for the grandkids, he would even process deer during hunting season for extra money.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Sadler, a brother, James R. Sadler, and a great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Reed.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bricker) Sadler, two sons, William W. Sadler of West Portsmouth and Joshua Sadler of Greenup, KY, a daughter, Angel Sadler of West Portsmouth, 11 grandchildren, Dominique, Desiree, Dreama, Joshua, Steven, Chuckie, Isiah, Emma, Preston, Mary, and Amy, and 11 great-grandchildren, Taylyn, Gracie, Little J, Kovyn, Jonah, Charlee, Paisleigh, Weston, Autumn, Chloe, and baby boy.

He is also survived by his siblings, Eddie Sadler (Andrea) of Portsmouth, Lester Sadler (Nancy) of West Portsmouth, Elbert Sadler (Linda) of McArthur, Dennis Sadler (Joyce) of South Webster, Diane Coleman (Greg)of West Portsmouth, and Jackie Journey (Michael) of West Portsmouth, Amanda Sadler of South Shore Ky, Jason Sadler, Andrea Reed (Jeremy) of Wheelersburg

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where graveside military rites will be provided by the American Legion, James Dickey Post #23. A visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and again one hour before the service on Friday.
